I've known Surrea for almost 10 years. I've seen her face physical and emotional challenges that would crush anybody, yet she has not given in to the temptation to quit.  Her strength of faith, grit, and resiliency have been an inspiration to me as well as many others.  She has remained transparent and not allowed bitterness to take hold. I met Surrea 4 years ago after getting involved in the political world. Surrea is a high energy, smart, well knowledgeable women with a great sense of humor. Surrea has a kind heart and helps people in need or in tragic situations. Her devotion to help others is simply amazing and inspiring after what all she endured to still be such a beautiful person inside and out. She gains attention just by walking into a room, people just flocking to her. We have hosted a few successful political events together and inspired me to continue on that path and the importance of being involved in my community, leading me to run for a local party position. Surrea's encouragement, advice and knowledge has motivated me to be better,  and to do better. Her ability to listen to every detail and think outside the box , her ability to make people so comfortable around her and her life experiences is what makes her such an influential women. -Angela Rubino

Anyone who’s heard Surrea’s life story knows she is quite exceptional.  From childhood difficulties to the extraordinary birth of her most recent daughter in 2024, Surrea has had serious challenges to navigate & conquer. Wow. And yet, I’ve NEVER heard Surrea complain about anything she’s been through! Even as a child, somehow she managed her adversities by focusing on hopes and promises that lay ahead & by trusting God. Surrea is consistently calm, clear-headed, thoughtful, & able to respond with ease to the crisis of the moment – whether it’s her crisis or someone else’s. Demonstrating an appropriate level of empathy & engaging in honest conversation, Surrea never fails to touch the heart of the matter.  Without being preachy, she speaks from experience about how her personal relationship with God is the foundation of her life with all of its adventures & its pain, too. My many talks with Surrea have always included our common faith in God. She is one of very few people from whom I have sought personal counsel.  She has earned my trust & I value her God-centered wisdom for life’s biggest struggles. -Mary Gordon

​I meet Surrea at a political event, and over the years, we became friends and political allies. Surrea is knowledgeable, outgoing, engaging and politically savvy. She knows the landscape of politics very well. Surrea has managed several campaigns for political candidates. Some wins and losses, but her assessments, planning and execution has earned her the reputation of the person to call if you want to get your campaign on track, the best advice, or be connected to others who can help. Surrea's knowledge of the political arena makes her the go to person for advice. I personally saw her actively engaged assessments, planning and executions. She knows many connected to politics at a high level and can get things done. I met Surrea during the 2021 election season through political discussions. I was immediately impressed not only by her depth of knowledge on the subject but also by her skill in delivering complex information to an audience, even when tackling controversial topics. Her tact and professionalism were exceptional. In my view, one of her greatest strengths is her ability to listen attentively and respond thoughtfully to individuals. I’ve witnessed her address challenging material with ease and confidence.

Many people in our political circle value and seek out Surrea’s advice. She has a rare gift for being both honest and respectful—offering candid insights without causing offense. Surrea also played a pivotal role in my decision-making process when I was contemplating running for a higher political position. ​Surrea and I have known each other intimately for the course of over 20 years. Old enough to be her mother, I have watched her go through extreme difficult physical and emotional suffering, springing from many sources in her personal life. She remained faithful to her faith through all the numerous exceptionally difficult challenges that she had to face. We have shared tears together in these life seasons, as I watched this woman morph into an amazing example of perseverance, while pressing through to whatever the other side was going to hold. She is an “Overcomer”. From one who would never walk normally again, never having children, to public defacing and losing family to death, she pressed into a spiritual domain in her faith that taught her to believe the impossible AND the impossible did happen. She is gifted with public speaking, motivating, and inspiring those who engage with or listen to her. Surrea has inspired me to hang on to my faith in God when life throws me curve balls. I met Surrea at an event 5 years ago. Her greatest attributes are, among others, her innate ability to understand and connect with ALL people. She is blessed with the ability to solve problems. Yes! I know Surrea very, very, well! She is one of the most articulate, energetic, charismatic speakers that I have ever met. I had her to speak at one of our most recent events, and she had the audience sitting at the edge of their seats! She illustrates her message by using words as a medium the way that a visual artist uses oils or acrylics to create a painting. She uses a multi-layered approach that is poetic, thought-provoking, entertaining, with verifiable truths. The way that she engages with the audience leaves them wanting more.
